Mr. Taiquan Liao

Professor Taiquan Liao, male, was born in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province in Mar.1944.  He graduated from Mechanical Engineering Dept., Beijing Institute of Mechanical Engineering In 1966.  In 1986 he was awarded the title of the State Distinguished Young Specialist by the Personnel Ministry of P.R. of China.  Now he enjoys the State Government Special Subsidy for Specialists.  In 1983, he was the vice-chief engineer of Qinhai Machine tool Foundry of the Mechanical Industry Ministry.  In 1985, he became the director of Labor Protection Research Institute of Guizhou Province.  In 1989, he became the chief engineer of Environmental Protection Research Institute of Guizhou Province.  In 1992, he began to working the Environmental Science Research Institute of South China Normal University and became the principle leader of the university key principle "The Environmental Engineering" and the tutor of master student candidates. In 1998, he is working at U.S.A.  In 2005, Mr. Taiquan Liao became the vice president and chief technical officer of The Guangdong KABB Co. Ltd. of China.

Mr. Liao is mainly engaged in the research and design of the technique and equipment for processing the high-turbidity waste water by physicochemical means, and also the research and design of the technique and equipment for processing air pollution of the industry smoke and dust. Since over thirty years, he has presided over 22 research projects of the State Economic Commission, the State Mechanical Industry Ministry, the State Environmental Protection Department, and Science Commission of Guangdong Province, in which 11 projects have reached the state advanced level and 3 projects have reached international level. “The SPR systems of treating and recycling of high turbidity wastewater”, developed in United States with his son Chunjiang Liao, has acquired the United States invention patent (US 6,358,407).

 

Mr. Taiquan Liao holds the position of the Member (China's Representative) of the Environmental Protection Commission 4 of the International Foundry Associations (CIATF), the Council Member of the Environmental Protection Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the Council Member of the Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and the Director of the Chinese Foundry Environmental Protection Commission , the Senior Member of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society.  In 1997, he was entitled as the technical expert of the China Expert Group of Water Pollution Processing Technology.  In 1989, his name has been listed in《Celebrity of Chinese Engineers》.  In 1997, his name has been listed in 《Dictionary of the Chinese Present Inventor》.  During 1984 to 1991, he was a standing member of All-China Youth Association.  And he is a Provincial working model of China.

 

Mr. Liao presided over the research and design of the Type YZJ, YZJ-A, GWJ, SPR High-Turbidity Wastewater Purifier and Water Purifying Technology.  The total purifying processing time is only 30 minutes.  The wastewater with suspended solid more than 500 mg/l~5000 mg/l can be taken in for a long time directly and continuously.  And the wastewater can include the heavy metals, such as Zinc, Lead, Iron and Mn, and organic pollutants (CODcr 1000 mg/l). 

The turbidity of the purified water has reached below 1 NTU (mg/l), which reach the tap water quality for industry use.  And the organic pollutants (CODcr) of the purified water have reached below 80 mg/l. The system can be use to treat the wastewater from a Paper Mill of the Reed Pulp, recycled paper   making, printing and dyeing mill, ceramic industry, slaughterhouse, coal mine, foundry industry, coal boiler dust removing by water, as well as municipal sewage.

This invention has won the third prize of the State Scientific Development in 1985, and the First Prize of Scientific Achievement of State Mechanical Industry Ministry, and the Scientific Achievement Credentials of Environmental Protection by State Environmental Protection Bureau.  It has also been listed as the State Environmental Protection Best Practical Technical Projects in 1995, and has been listed as the scientific achievement important disseminating projects of the State Science Commission in 1997-2001.  It has been widely used in over 24 provinces at China in these 30 years, and has been exported to Southeast Asia.

 

Mr. Liao's another achievement, the semi-enclosed dust hood with concave top for shakeout machine of Foundry, which has won the Second Prize of the Provincial Scientific Achievement, has filled in the gaps in the fields of Technology in China, and has been listed in the "Handbook of Mechanic Engineering of China". His "High-Effectiveness and Low-Resistance Combine Wet Dust Collector" has combined the spraying, accelerated water bath and water foam dust removing, and the efficiency of purifying dust and smoke has reach the domestic advanced level.  It has been widely used in the mechanic industry of China.

 

Mr. Liao has published 25 articles in Chinese Academic Journals and has won second Prizes of Provincial Natural Science Articles three times. He has represented China to present his papers on environmental protection technology in the 51st World Foundry Congress of Portugal in 1984 and the 59th World Foundry Congress of Brazil in 1992.  He presented the paper on waste water treatment on the Asia Pacific Environmental Protection Technology Conference of Singapore in 1996.
